A week ago, I would have given this product a 4 or 5 star rating. Since then, it exploded, sending glass shrapnel all over my kitchen.

Until I sat down and googled “pyrex explosion” I didn’t realize this is not an uncommon occurence. I used this dish for years. It’s versatile, shows off food, and is simple to clean. However, you might consider investing in some safety glasses because it can explode like a bomb with no warning whatsoever.

I have not had any problems with this dish and have had it for over 2 yrs now. I am able to use the glass cover on a couple of my stainless steel frying pans which is great too. This casserole dish is the perfect size and I love having a nice lid.

Amazon asked that I review this item and I’m not sure what to say other than it is exactly what it looks like – a no frills, workman-like, Pyrex dish that makes a damn fine casserole. I’ve used it once, for Thanksgiving, and for the following hot dish:

Recipe: 1-3/4 cups of macaroni noodles (boiled = 3+ cups), 1 can of Campbells Cream of Mushroom soup, 1 can of corn, and 5 strips of fried bacon. Boil noodles until al dente (approximately 6 minutes), add mushroom soup and one can of 2% milk, add drained corn, and crumbled bacon strips, bake for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

I’ve had a duplicate of this dish for at least 10 years. It is unbelievably convenient. It can go from the microwave to the table. It looks great as a serving piece. It keeps the heat in, it’s easy to watch food cooking in it, and is great for steaming vegetables.
